This guy has, I think, the perfect voice for a Jack Daniels commercial. Get Fantapper! However, he is not that well known. In fact, I was hard pressed to pin down a single movie that he had a big role in and he does not look like he has ever been a regular on a TV show. Who is he? A man named Patrick Dollaghan. It looks like he’s been active both on the screen and on the stage for 30 years. However, he never hit it big.He did appear in the Clint Eastwood World War II movie Flags of Our Fathers. I’ve been meaning to check out that movie and Letters from Iwo Jima so I will have to look out for him.

I’ve been wracking my brains for weeks wondering who the voice was. It’s been on the tip of my tounge but luckily the internet has my back. It is Ed Harris, an actor I really like. Probably the first thing I saw him in was The Abyss. He was pretty good. Now, over the years I have seen him in a lot of roles. He is always delivering a command performance whether he is playing the good guy or the bad guy. He also does pretty well in smaller, artier films like Pollack or Glengarry Glen Ross. All around a good actor.

I swear, this guy must need money. He’s the only voice actor I know of who is currently doing two national campaigns. I am talking about Tim “The Tool Man Taylor” Allen! It’s always time for tool time. I used to watch that show when I was a kid. Then he started making those Santa movies which at first were cute but by the third(?) one they seemed more like a paycheck picture. He also is the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story movies a series which received a shot in the arm this summer with a third installment that while I have not seen yet, I have heard very good things about. I think he will always best be remembered for Home Improvement. Now he is lending his voice to promote Campbell’s soup and the 2010 Chevy Cruise.

I am a Honda owner. I have a 2002 Honda Civic. It was the first new car I ever bought. It’s definitely showing it’s age and eventually I am going to have to buy a new one. Maybe Kevin Spacey can convince me to buy a Honda Accord. As I’ve said before, I think Kevin Spacey is pretty awesome. I first really noticed him in American Beauty though looking through his credits I must have seen him in a number of things before that. He never made an impression before that I guess. Which is more about me than it is about him. I just wasn’t old enough to really be aware of the talent I was watching. Since them he has done lots of movies (winning an Oscar opens up a few doors). Some of his movies are better than others but what are you going to do. Some of his voice work includes narration for a number of documentaries and he was Hopper in A Bugs Life.

To anyone my age who was ever into SciFi, this voice ought to be instantly recognizable. After all, he is captain of the most badass starship of the 80’s. I am of course talking about Captain Jean Luc Picard AKA Patrick Stewart. I’d have to say that of all the Star Trek captains, Picard is my favorite though Kirk is a close second (and the new Kirk is pretty good too). I spent a huge chunk of the 90s watching Star Trek The Next Generation, both first run and reruns. It was a very influential part of my life both leading me to more hard core science fiction and in part into a career in computers. So thank you Captain Picard and the rest of the crew of the Enterprise-D.

I used to watch this guy on Entertainment Tonight when I was a kid and actually cared about celebrity gossip. Then I heard he also made music and, well, I was a tad disappointed. I hear he’s big in Germany though. The voice, of course, is none other than John Tesh.

He is a well known British actor who has been active in film for at least 40 years. His most famous role, in my opinion, was in A Clockwork Orange where he terrified us and enthralled us. He is Malcolm McDowell. I really like this actor. He always brings a little something special to every role, whether if it was the main bad guy in
Star Trek Generations or even if it’s just a voice over in a Disney Cartoon (which is a hella awesome Disney Cartoon.

The new Lexus commercials are out. They are using someone with a silky, smooth voice. Who is it? James Remar. He is a character actor with about a zillion credits going back to the 1970s. Some of his most recent work is as Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan, whom he has been portraying for the run of the show since 2006. A fewer years back, he did about a dozen episodes of Sex and the City as one of the many love interests of Carry. He also has numerous voice only roles, including Two Face in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. I love the Batman mythos, I should look into this particular series.

Most of the time I do not watch commercials at all. That’s ironic considering the mission of this site. Still, from time to time I forget to fast forward my Tivo, probably because I am busy with my iphone, and I hear a familiar voice. I heard just such a voice today. It was for a website I had never heard of before but there was no mistaking the voice. Kevin Spacey is the voice of Kayak.com.
