Who is the Voice from the Kayak.Com Commercial?

Most of the time I do not watch commercials at all. That’s ironic considering the mission of this site. Still, from time to time I forget to fast forward my Tivo, probably because I am busy with my iphone, and I hear a familiar voice. I heard just such a voice today. It was for a website I had never heard of before but there was no mistaking the voice. Kevin Spacey is the voice of Kayak.com. I don’t know anything about Kayak.com since this was the first time I had heard of it. I can, however, heartily endorse Kevin Spacey. I first really noticed him in American Beauty though looking through his credits I must have seen him in a number of things before that. He never made an impression before that I guess. Which is more about me than it is about him. I just wasn’t old enough to really be aware of the talent I was watching. Since them he has done lots of movies (winning an Oscar opens up a few doors). Some of his movies are better than others but what are you going to do. Some of his voice work includes narration for a number of documentaries and he was Hopper in A Bugs Life.

I’ve have been told by too many people, total strangers usually in grocery store parking lots, that I look like this guy. They usually say that guy Dan from Roseanne but he is better known as John Goodman. This is another actor that I really like. He has been about 100 movies and tv shows, some good, some bad, some really ugly. I liked him a lot in Roseanne and a fun, guilty pleasure movie is King Ralph. He’s also done a good bit of voice work including The Jungle Book 2 as Baloo and The Emperor’s New Groove as Pacha.

One of my favorite actors from one of my favorite movies: Gary Oldman. Gary Oldman is doing the voices of Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim in the new version of A Christmas Carol that is coming out. He is in my favorite movies of 2008 The Dark Knight (which I’ve spoken highly of on here before). He’s one of those truly awesome actors who just disappears into a role. I’ve seen him in a lot of different movies and you can be sure he never does the same performance twice. I especially liked him an a two part episode of Friends when he poked fun at his reputation as a Serious actor. His other voice over work includes video games like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.

This is an actor I really enjoy. Mr. Bob Hoskins. I first saw him in Who Framed Roger Rabbit way back when I was 9 years old. I don’t think I actually understood the movie at the time, I just thought it was supposed to be a cartoon or something. As I got older and begun to understand the movie better I found that I really enjoyed it. Looking through his IMDB page though it doesn’t look like Bob Hoskins has had that many roles in movies that I have enjoyed but I like him in what I see him in. I am not real sure who Mr. Fezziwig is supposed to be though.

This is not really a difficult one. I am seeing the commercials for it non stop, complete with the interview of…Jim Carrey of course. My favorite Jim Carrey character was Fire Marshall Bill, going way, way back to his days on In Living Color. This was back in the 7th grade. Then when Ace Ventura came out I though this was the greatest movie ever made (which goes to show what I knew at 13). I’ve never been a huge fan of Jim Carrey, even as a teenager I did not like the Mask or Dumb and Dumber. Some people are big fans though. In this version of A Christmas Carol, Jim Carrey does the voice of Scrooge, and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

Who is Dr. Tenma in Astro Boy?

In Astro Boy the voice behind Dr. Tenma is none other than Mr. Nicholas Cage. Nic Cage has been making a name for himself since the early 80s. He appeared in such classics as Peggy Sue Got Married and Raising Arizona(my first Coen Brothers movie, even though I first saw it twenty years ago it is hysterical to this day). He won an Oscar for his portrayal of a man drinking himself to death in Leaving Las Vegas, a movie I really liked but don’t think I can stand a second viewing because of how gut wrenching it is. The problem with Cage is that he has been in some really awful movies. Lately he seems to be trying to one up the terrible-ness with such gems as Ghost Rider and National Treasure. I guess he can do whatever he wants though. I can’t fault a man for wanting to get paid and as long as people spend money to go watch then whatever.

The voice of Cora in Astro Boy is none other than Kristen Bell. Kristen not only provides her voice for Astro Boy but apparently does the voice over narration for Gossip Girl (which is a show I have never watched). She was also the star of the tv show Veronica Mars (which I have never watched and I do not even know what it was about). The thing I have seen her in was Heroes where she played Elle Bishop during the second season and I think part of the third.

The owner of the voice in the new movie Astro Boy is: Freddie Highmore. This young man, only 17 years old, is making a big name for himself. In addition to voicing Astro Boy he has also lent his voice to The Golden Compass as the voice of Pantalaimon and starred in front of the camera in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as Charlie alongside Johnny Depp.

The Voice of Carol in Where the Wild Things Are

James Gandolfini does the voice of Carol (the big “wild thing”) in Where the Wild Things Are. It’s a great casting choice because he has an amazing voice. Like most people I first became aware of Gandolfini in the Sopranos. I loved that show and watched it religisouly for almost the entire run (I missed the first couple seasons because no one told me how awesome it was up front, live and learn). I also liked him in some of his other roles such as The Last Castle as the sniveling coward of a warden of the prison and as the gay hitman in the Mexican.

Samuel L. Jackson is the Man!

Samuel L. Jackson is the freaking man! He has one of the most distinctive voices in entertainment today. He has been in a ton of great film roles in front of the camera. He has also left his mark in the world of Celebrity Voice Overs. He was Frozone in the Incredibles (see below). He also does the voice of the Afro Ninja, a show and character I had not heard of until recently. he did a commercial for Pontiac back in 2004 which made me want to go out and buy a car. Apparently he is the voice of the Narrator in Inglourious Basterds the new movie from Quentin Tarantino. Sam and Quentin go way back, Sam Jackson was Jules Winnfield, one of two hitmen in Pulp Fiction, in the role that really put him on the map at least for me. They have continued to collaborate in one form or another over the years. Who could forget though that Samuel “Motherfucking Snakes” was also a Jedi Knight? Like I said, he is the man!
